Garden of the Mind
Looking at this path, it's easy to imagine how it was formed. No one walked it once and created a clear trail. It emerged through repeated steps in the same direction.
Our brains work much the same way.
Every thought we think, every habit we practice, and every response we repeat strengthens a neural pathway. Some paths become well-worn roads—whether they lead toward peace, gratitude, and hope, or toward fear, resentment, and self-doubt.
The good news is that God designed our brains with an incredible capacity for change. This is called neuroplasticity: the brain's ability to form new connections and strengthen healthier pathways throughout our lives.
Healing rarely happens overnight. Like a garden path, new routes are formed one step at a time. A prayer repeated daily. A truthful thought replacing a lie. A choice to pause before reacting. A moment of gratitude in the midst of struggle.
At first, the new path may feel unfamiliar. But with patience and persistence, what was once overgrown becomes clear and easy to follow.
Today, consider: What path am I walking most often in my mind? And what new path is God inviting me to cultivate?
"Be transformed by the renewal of your mind." — Romans 12:2
